First Votes: McCain 8, Obama 3

WASHINGTON, Nov. 4, 2008 — John McCain, R-Ariz., jumped out to an early lead tonight in the Electoral Vote count, winning Kentucky and its eight votes.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in turn won Vermont and its three votes.

The states were the first two races major media outlets called.

TALLY: McCain: 8; Obama: 3
