It may come as a surprise to some, but for the past 75 years, one of the most entertaining places to visit in Los Angeles has been…the Market.

Not just any market, however. The Original Farmers Market remains the No. 1 tourist destination in Los Angeles. For locals, the phrase “Meet me at 3rd and Fairfax” has been part of the city’s lingo since the Market opened in 1934.

Festivities celebrating the anniversary include a large birthday party, commemorative merchandise, a photo history book, new cookbook, and the long-popular Mardi Gras, Fall Festival, Car Show and summer concerts.

Fun Facts About the Market:

– Culinary artisans create ice cream, toffee, fudge, peanut butter and fresh baked goods every day at the Market.

– On an average day, employees in the various shops and restaurants use at least 20 languages as they serve their customers.

– The Los Angeles Times called the Market “the number one place in L.A. to spot stars.”
